Rent a Boat, Catch Some Fish

If you came for Red Snapper season, it’s in full swing with the longest season in recent history – 45 days. The season runs until July 31, which will give you have plenty of time to catch all you want. There will be an additional 12 days in the fall, so you may want to plan a return trip.

Beyond Red Snapper, many other fish are waiting for you to drop your line – Specks, Redfish, Mingo Snapper, White Snapper and Black Snapper, as well as others. Bridges are a great place to catch your limit, and you have four to choose from – Brooks Bridge near Fort Walton Beach, Marler Bridge near Destin, Mid-Bay Bridge that connects Niceville to Destin, and Clyde Wells Bridge that connects Freeport to South Walton County. Tarpon and Jack Crevalle are known to frequent these waters.

If you decide to head into the Gulf of Mexico, reefs offer the best fishing. You may pull in Amberjack, Barracuda, Mahi, Trigger Fish, or Wahoo. The Gulf and Bay waters offer an almost inexhaustible supply of fish.
